Even in a Tight Economy, Substantive Legal Jobs are Available on LawCrossing

Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) July 29, 2013

LawCrossing reveals over 45,720 legal jobs on its website that still remain unfilled. Of these, 1296 are in Los Angeles, 1722 in Chicago, 3223 in New York City, 1039 in Houston and 3386 in Washington. This alone reveals that there are substantive legal jobs being created in the country.

It is widely believed that law schools are churning out too many lawyers and the legal industry is not being able to support them. But, LawCrossings data reveals that new jobs are being created in almost all areas of legal practice. Jobs are growing once again after the legal industry lost several jobs between May and June. While only 56.2% of the 2012 class of law school graduates was employed within nine months after earning their graduate degree, the current uptick in hiring reveals that more lawyers will be employed soon, says Harrison Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of LawCrossing.

Many organizations and schools are making efforts to promote law graduates so that a lucrative legal career does not become a shaky proposition for students spending about $ 150,000 on a legal education. The Justice Department for one, has taken a new approach to deal with the cutbacks caused by sequestration. It has begun a pilot program that allows lawyers to gain public service experience while providing valuable support to the Justice Department. The experience attained could help them to further chisel their skills.

Companies wanting to catch up with the Affordable Care Act and other regulations written years ago are now creating a demand for healthcare experts. In this respect, the University of Akron has created a center dedicated to training next generation health care lawyers. Many legal schools are also offering niche courses in infra contract, human rights, cyber crime, law acquaintance, corporate finance, and finance management because much demand for legal professionals lies in these areas.

Hiring has not stagnated. However, it could be that candidates with strong credentials are not being employed, where their talent is required only because they are no searching in the right direction. Working with a capable and experienced legal recruiter helps in answering career dilemmas, especially in a tight economy. Visit http://www.lawcrossing.com/jobs/jobs.html to browse jobs categorically as per state, city and specialization and know how the legal recruiter can make a huge difference in legal job-searches.

About LawCrossing:

The Three Rs for Back to School: Research, Reuse, Revisit

Rockville, MD (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

With families preparing for the back-to-school season and the frenzied shopping sessions that come along with it, Goodwill Industries International is asking parents and students to shop responsibly. In 2010, Goodwill launched the Donate Movement, which asks consumers to think about how donations and shopping for used goods can make a difference to communities and the planet. At Goodwill, donated goods and their resale are transformed into job training and placement programs that help millions of people annually. With that in mind, Goodwill asks families to consider the Three Rs of the back-to-school season.

1. Research: Instead of approaching the back-to-school season with a last-minute dash for the mall, kids and parents can use it as an opportunity to learn about conscientious shopping. At the Donate Movement website (donate.goodwill.org), anyone can easily find out the impact their used goods can have by entering donations into the patent-pending Donation Impact Calculator. For example, three pairs of gently used jeans provide 31 minutes of career counseling. Students can also read exactly how these career counseling classes have helped job seekers in their communities, while younger children can play the Donation Match Game (https://donate.goodwill.org/game) to find out what items can be donated. Parents can enter their zip codes on the site to find out how and where to donate.

2. Reuse: Young people can make an impact during the back-to-school season in three ways. First, they can make room in their closets, bedrooms and backpacks by donating gently used clothing and household items to Goodwill. Second, they can purchase donated items for school so that the value of what they buy will go directly into helping their communities. Third, they can hold donation drives at their local school once the school season starts. Young shoppers can find everything from clothes and school supplies to books, electronics and sports equipment at their local Goodwill stores.

3. Revisit: With families now spending more than ever before on back-to-school shopping, it can certainly help to put off some purchases until later in the year. By returning to Goodwill throughout the school year, parents can make sure theyre only buying items they really need. Returning later also means they can likely find some must-have back-to-school items at deeply discounted prices in just a few months. Throughout the year, families can revisit the Donate Movement site to learn how their donated goods are having an impact, and return to Goodwill to drop off used items and find new ones.

The back-to-school season can be a stressful time for families, said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. By approaching it as a fun opportunity to learn about the power of donating and to find ways to strengthen our community, children and parents alike can get everything they need for school while knowing theyre doing good by helping others.

2013 Release of Ultimate Vocabulary Helps Increase Literacy Levels, Says eReflect

New York City, NY (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Building vocabulary is an important step in academic, personal, and professional success. With the 2013 release of Ultimate Vocabulary the noted e-learning company eReflect strives to help people to improve their literacy levels. As emphasized in the 2012/13 National Literacy Trust guide for primary schools in the UK, it's important to use a balanced approach in which word recognition skills are matched by attention to comprehension, and that concept forms the basis of the exercises used in Ultimate Vocabulary 2013, says eReflect. In today's statement, eReflect explained that a rich, broad vocabulary has multiple benefits other than the immediate and obvious conversational skills it offers to the possessor. To help people understand the importance of vocabulary building, eReflect discussed three ways an extensive vocabulary improves literacy levels.

First, broadened vocabulary usage immediately means a better understanding of new ideas, especially technological terms. Technological innovations change daily life constantly and without a sound vocabulary, it's easy to get lost in the sheer amount of new tools and concepts technology and other related advancements bring. Technological literacy although not the only important type of literacy is crucial in keeping up with the rest of the world, eReflect pointed out.

The second way in which a rich vocabulary can improve literacy levels is that it helps a person more efficiently communicate at a personal and professional level. Consequently, people interact more competently; at the same time, this competence and confidence encourages literacy. A good vocabulary enables people to eloquently and accurately communicate their ideas and thoughts. This then makes it easier for them to interact with people who are more educated and experienced, and benefit from such fruitful interactions. As the National Literary Trust comments, there is a definite link between literacy and social mobility.

The third most important reason why a broadened vocabulary boosts literacy is that with an extensive vocabulary a person also increases their knowledge capacity. In other words, it allows the learner to more efficiently get their hands on new knowledge otherwise inaccessible due to a limiting vocabulary. An immediate consequence of a wide vocabulary, eReflect stressed, is that a person's career potential is enhanced since an extensive vocabulary functions as a vehicle for emphasizing all other important skills and qualities.

eReflect joins the National Literary Trust in their 2013 initiative by encouraging parents to show children the ways a rich vocabulary can promote literacy, and urges people of all ages to seek ways to broaden their vocabulary and start reaping the benefits this provides them.

The School of Internet Marketing Instructor Discusses Outsourcing Secrets

Jersey City, New Jersey (PRWEB) July 29, 2013

Outsourcing has become a hot topic throughout the world and many businesses use it to save money on projects. Professor at The School of Internet Marketing and President of Halyard Consulting, Jonathan Goodman, talked about some of the secrets of outsourcing today on his recent podcast from July 1st, 2013.

Goodman stated that outsourcing has become a way of life for many companies because it is cost-effective. Companies can find many sites on which to post their project to find freelancers to do the work. Goodman mentioned Elance and Fiverr as two he has used. It is important to know which sites to use for different types of work and what projects can be delegated internationally and what ones must use workers in the same country.

"I hire Americans, and I hire Canadians. But at the same time, I hire Kenyans, I hire Greeks. I hire Egyptians for a lot of the work that I need done." - Jonathan Goodman

A secret that Goodman provided for businesses seeking to post projects for freelancers had to do with pricing. He recommended not putting a price on a project to leave it more open for freelancers from all over the world. The difference in a price bid is not an indication of the level of quality but rather a representation of the average salary in that country. Discounting low bids could mean someone was missing out on a top freelancer. Goodman also stressed the importance of keeping a good freelancer once a business finds someone to work with.

Lilly Fenichels Second Solo Exhibition At David Richard Gallery In Santa Fe Features New Black And White Abstract Expressionist Oil Paintings

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

David Richard Gallery will present Lilly Fenichels newest series of abstract expressionist paintings of poured oil paint and glazes on a smooth synthetic polypropylene support in her second solo exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition, "High Contrast," will be presented August 2 through September 7, 2013 with an opening reception on Friday, August 2 from 5:00 7:00 PM at the gallery located on 544 South Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501, phone 505-983-9555 in the Santa Fe Railyard Arts District.

This newest series of pure abstract paintings by Fenichel features a reductive palette of predominantly black paint on a white support with a rare stroke or two of subtle colora bit of amber, purple, dilute red or neutralized green. The compositions are asymmetric with the black emerging from a corner or one side or the other like a wave of black pigment onto the scene, forever disrupting the serenity of the pure white support. Yet, the reductive compositions are calm and provide solitude as the viewer studies the work and makes a personal interpretation. These paintings are more gestural and less graphic than her earlier series with the same materials, the edges are broken and diffuse with the black pigment fading to white, conveying movement and rhythm.

Lilly Fenichel completed her undergraduate work at Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and later studied with Hassel Smith at the California School of Fine Artcurrently the San Francisco Art Institute. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions during her six decade career. A recipient of three International Pollock-Krasner Grants and numerous other awards, her artwork is in the permanent collections of the Harwood Museum, Albuquerque Museum and U. of New Mexico Art Museum along with numerous private and public collections.

David Richard Gallery specializes in post-war abstract art including Abstract Expressionism, Color Field, geometric and hard-edge painting, Op Art, Pop Art, Minimalism, Feminism and conceptualism in a variety of media. Featuring both historic and contemporary artwork, the gallery represents many established artists who were part of important art historical movements and tendencies that occurred during the 1950s through the 1980s on both the east and west coasts. The gallery also represents artist estates, emerging artists and offers secondary market works.

Sound the Alarm - The Apollo Theaters Executioner Hits The Stage in Camden, NJ

Camden, NJ (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Unlike many of todays newer reality TV talent shows, where judging of contestants is via a telephone call from viewers or using some high-tech device available to the studio audience, waiting in the wings when every performer hits the stage at The World Famous Apollo Theaters Amateur Night Show is one of the theaters legendary icons, The Executioner. The formal Ambassador for performance excellence appears on stage when summoned by an unsatisfied, booing audience. A siren alarms, The Executioner shuffles on stage as some zany character in costume, he tap dances and tantalizes the shamed contestant, and before you know it, he exits the stage, only to wait for his next victim. Really? What gives him the right?

Coming from behind the many costumes and masks of The Executioner is, in fact, a veteran performer, multi-dimensional entertainer and live stage performance coach. CP Lacey, is the true personality behind the Executioner character and has been filling this role since he first came on the scene as a young, up and coming performer in the late 80s, who is currently also deemed the official Master Celebrity Impersonator for The Apollo Theater.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ARaj52_UTLg

Featured by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, actor, comedian, song and dance man, CP Lacey, has and continues to perform his unique, one-man show The CP Lacey Show, before audiences throughout the United States and abroad. And, now, he brings his experience and talent to the Camden Waterfront (just five minutes from Philadelphia) for a live taping of his show at the IDEA Performing Arts Center in the Susquehanna Bank Center, supporting high school and college students pursuing careers in performing arts and multimedia. When asked, Why Camden?, Lacey responds, Theres so much negative press about Camden. Why not do something to highlight some of the positive things that are happening in Camden, especially when it means keeping young people off the streets? Its not about making money. Its about making a difference, shares Lacey. The center just completed its charge this past June to train 50 youth from Camden and educate them for the 21st century job market by operating a training program teaching students a variety of multimedia skills that are relevant in today's economy.

Even as the non-profit organization prepares for its upcoming Fall programs to reach even more high school and college students, CP Lacey, a warm-hearted live stage performance coach and talented performer hopes to raise awareness about the great work at the IDEA Performing Arts Center. In fact, CP is currently in talks with President and CEO, Cynthia Primas about possibly teaching a class at the center sometime soon, depending on his schedule availability.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qXCSLt2c-HU

For now, on Sunday, August 25, 2013, CP Lacey anticipates helping to create more visibility for the center as he prepares for the production of his new off-broadway show next year, by bringing to the IDEA Performing Arts Center his current signature show, The CP Lacey Show, highlighting just some of his many talents as a Master Celebrity Impersonator and Comedian. In one show, audience members "star-gaze" as CP dances, sings, acts and brings clean comedy while he transforms into many favored celebrities and his own alter-ego cast of characters right before the audience, while being accompanied by a live band. An entertainment treat for the whole family, attendees witness CP Lacey in rare, comedic form as Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, Sammy Davis Jr. and many more from the cast of over 30 celebrities CP Lacey performs, in full makeup, costume and voice. Audience participation an extra special treat. Depending on the community response, we just may do the show at this center again, shares Lacey.

Doors open 3:00 p.m. at 1 Harbour Boulevard, Camden, NJ, just five minutes from Philadelphia. Due to limited seating, attendees are advised to purchase tickets in advance. For more about the IDEA Performing Arts Center, go to http://www.idea-arts.org. For more information and to see where CP is next, go to http://www.cplacey.com, or Facebook.com/TheCPLaceyShow. Twitter: @GoCPLacey.

Catch CP Lacey when he returns to BETs Apollo Live television show which will be taped live this coming September 2013 in New York City at The Apollo Theater, with the legendary Ms. Gladys Knight, and fellow judges Doug E. Fresh, Michael Bivens, and Host, Comedian Tony Rock.

Essential Nursing Assistant Training Improves Quality of Care and Provides Jobs

Vacaville, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Long-term care providers across the nation are investing in their nursing assistant workers as part of their efforts to improve the quality of care and quality of life for elders and people with disabilities. These employers have reversed the industry's usual strategy of low investment and high turnover among nursing assistants and instead use a high investmentlow turnover approach that results in better quality care. They are both raising the floorby providing better training and higher wagesand building career ladders that give nursing assistants greater opportunities for professional growth.

Today there are more than three million nursing assistants, and an additional 1.1 million will be needed by 2018. It is nearly the largest occupational group and fastest-growing workforce in the nation, but also one of the most poorly paid. Many employers are now realizing that attracting a stable, quality workforce requires a different approach to workforce development.

"These employers are operating with a 'quality care through quality jobs' framework that truly values the contributions of all employeesespecially the nursing assistant, who provides the lion's share of hands-on long-term care in this country," said Dana Bernard, RN and CEO of The Learning Oasis.

The Learning Oasis has teamed up with local employers in the Vacaville area to offer nursing assistant training that will not only help fill the workforce gap but also provide training with a learner-centered approach. These programs are designed to provide fast-paced training to prepare students for the healthcare workforce. Programs are conveniently offered with schedules designed for busy adults. Students will experience a hands-on training experience at a local healthcare facility.

Every day The Learning Oasis team is contacted by women who would love to begin a career in healthcare. They come from all backgrounds and have one thing in common, no funding to get started. Support the dreams of women who want to get into the rewarding field of healthcare but can't - due to a lack of money. You can make a woman's dream come true by supporting a motivated woman in need with a full scholarship of $ 1599 or contribute what you can toward an education. All scholarship winners will be featured on The Learning Oasis' Facebook Page: Enabling Women's Success Through Education.

To introduce these new training opportunities, a free online information session is offered to allow prospective students interested in these new training programs to find out more. The free online information session is available to anyone looking to learn more about opportunities in healthcare careers, inquire about pre-requisites, (most programs require 18 years + and a high school diploma or equivalent), financial obligations and to ask questions and get answers. Sierra College and Del Oro Double Certification of High School Welders

Rocklin, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Bill Wenzel, Sierra College Welding Department Chair and American Welding Society (AWS) inspector, partnered with Del Oro High School in Loomis, CA to test students for advantageous industry certification. Wenzel reported that 13 students passed the E7018 3G Vertical Up Butt Joint ARC welding certification and seven passed last year. Certification and other collaborative efforts are creating a pipeline of welding students prepared for technical careers.

With certification, these high school students are more qualified for summer jobs, said Wenzel. Through articulation agreements, advanced Del Oro welders also have the pre-requisites to take Welding 20 at Sierra College this fall. This Foundation of Welding Technology course is the first in the welding career path series and is open for enrollment.

As part of the certification process, Del Oro High School Agricultural Welding instructor Mike Pahl supervised the students as they welded together two plates side-by-side. Then Wenzel reviewed the sample sections before they were put in a hydraulic bender and bent into U shapes. The weld at the outside of the bend, where there is the greatest stress, cannot have more than 1/8 of an inch of opening in order to pass AWS welding code.

Additionally, three students passed the 71T Dual Shield 3G Vertical Up Butt Joint certification and one student passed the 71T Overhead Dual Shield 41G Overhead Butt Joint certification. According to Pahl, students with AWS certifications have an advantage. It proves to employers that students have the basic skills to advance, said Pahl.

The Del Oro welding program is so popular that additional sections have been added to serve 240 students per year. Pahl explained that the high school welding program has expanded and upgraded tools as a result of support from the Sierra College Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Collaborative .

Through the Sierra STEM Collaborative, 50-year-old equipment was replaced with six digital dual-purpose welders that can be used for both TIG and ARC welding, said Pahl. The college also offered professional development that connected us with other teachers, and provided support to develop new curriculum aligned with industry needs.

Carol Pepper-Kittredge, Director, Center for Applied Competitive Technologies at Sierra College (CACT), manages the Sierra STEM Collaborative. When the college and high school faculty work together, students benefit from a coordinated education path, said Pepper-Kittredge.

To bring more state-of-the-art welding training to high school campuses, Sierra College has built the only community college Mobile Training Center for welding in Northern California and one of a handful in the United States. The Mobile Welding Lab was funded through CACT and Career Technical Education Perkins funding.

The mobile lab can travel to high school campuses and expose students to the latest equipment and training techniques. By combining computers with welding technology in the mobile lab, students speed of travel, amperage and voltage will be tracked and graphed as they weld, said Wenzel. Working in the mobile lab, high school students can receive detailed feedback to improve their technique and prepare for certification.

By aligning curriculum, sharing instructional techniques and responding to industry input, college and high school faculty are increasing the number of students prepared to earn certifications and further their education at Sierra College, said Pepper-Kittredge. As a result, more students will be able to pursue career opportunities in welding, fabrication and advanced manufacturing.

About Sierra College STEM Collaborative

The Sierra STEM Collaborative is funded by the California Community College Chancellors Office to create a pipeline of students interested in technical careers. Students can pursue Welding, Mechatronics, Engineering, Energy Technology and Drafting & Engineering Support at Sierra College. Sowing The Seeds of Success: Akaryn Hospitality Management Services Commits To Nurturing Home-Grown Talent

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB UK) 30 July 2013

Pioneering luxury boutique resort operator Akaryn Hospitality Management Services (AHMS) is expanding its efforts to develop the next generation of Thai hospitality champions through a commitment to taking on more scholarships from local schools as the trailblazing company expands.

With additional hotels being added to the group over the next two years, AHMS, which now employs almost 600 staff, will be increasing both its resort portfolio and its recruitment drive with a pledge to training young local Thais, giving them a better future by nurturing culturally inherent, world-renowned hospitality instincts and traditions.

Mia Faye Singson-Leon AHMS Group Director of HR and Training said that rather than a fleeting CSR campaign, the pledge is a long-term plan integral to the company philosophy.

"AHMS understands that investing in the growth and development of its people is one of the best investments that we can make," she said. "We have a disciplined and focused orientation program that gives people a strong grounding on culture and foundational knowledge of hospitality service that comes from the heart."

"Staff members at AHMS resorts are encouraged to grow within their working environment through a Growing Leaders program that aims to identify talent early on and provide them with the right training and career guidance so they are professionally prepared for higher leadership positions as we grow," added Ms Singson-Leon.

At present, 62 percent of managerial and supervisor positions at Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi are occupied by staff who have grown in-house at the resort, with similar figures to be replicated in all AHMS resorts over the next two years.

All AHMS hotels have certified English language classes from ABC to more advanced levels, hospitality training and are required to have at least five hours of training per person per month to ensure continuous development in hard and soft skills.

AHMS also encourages staff participation in wellness training programs that aim to provide health-based education to staff such as reproductive health seminars, AIDS awareness programs, first aid and CPR basics and child rearing courses for staff with children.

On a more aesthetic and light-hearted approach, AHMS resorts also provide courses on personality development, personal grooming and make-up application as well as a regular yoga program for staff at Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga and a fully equipped football field for staff to use recreationally after work.

The award-winning company has been a positive influence on local communities from its inception, with examples of altruistic enterprises including Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga working with community school, Baan Khao Pilai, two minutes away from the resort, for the past six years. For 2013 to 2014, the resort gave away six scholarships to ensure the students have everything they need to complete the school year.

Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga has also helped the school through donations of books, DVDs and other learning materials as well as pecuniary donations to help with site maintenance and an ongoing project to rejuvenate the dilapidated playground at a total cost of THB40,000. The resort also arranges trips for students to nearby turtle sanctuary that nurtures and raises the rare leatherback species, a programme supported by AHMS founded Pure Blue Foundation, furthering children's learning on marine conservation.

Chicago, IL Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Rita Salvi Platt Introduces Sedation Dentistry for Increased Patient Comfort

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Cosmetic dentist, Dr. Rita Salvi Platt recently introduced sedation dentistry at her practice in Chicago, IL. Sedation dentistry is a fast growing dental service that is giving more people everyday the opportunity to have a beautiful smile with more comfort and peace of mind. Sedation dentistry decreases the fears patients have about going to the dentist or about dental procedures and allows the patient to relax prior to, or during the appointment.

An estimated 75 percent of adults experience some degree of dental fear and an estimated five to 10 percent of adults have a severe phobia, enough to keep them from dental care completely. Avoiding dental care may reinforce dental phobia because patients wait until they have a dental emergency, which most often times requires an invasive procedure.

"With the breakthroughs in dentistry, it is possible for anyone who wants a beautiful smile to have one," said Dr. Rita Salvi Platt, sedation dentist in Chicago, IL. "Whether a person has a fear of needles, sounds, smells, pain or surgeries; with sedation dentistry, they no longer have to feel that way."

The two categories of sedation dentistry Rita Salvi Platt, DDS focuses on are nitrous oxide sedation and oral sedatives. Nitrous, simply inhaled through a mask, eliminates pain and once the mask is removed, returns the patients senses immediately. Oral sedatives are prescribed prior to the visit or during the procedure, depending on the degree of anxiety the patient has. Local anesthetics are given during the procedure because oral sedatives do not eliminate pain. The purpose of both is to provide the most comfort for the patient as possible.

Sedation dentistry makes getting dentures and dental implants an easier procedure. In addition to being a sedation dentist, Dr. Salvi Platt is also a TMJ dentist in Chicago, IL, trained in treating disorders associated with a misaligned jaw.

Dr. Rita Salvi Platt of Healthy Smiles, Inc. has been in dentistry for more than 14 years, and has been at her current location since 2000. She began her career at Marquette University, where she received a BS in Dental Hygiene. She later received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Loyola Dental School. Dr. Salvi Platt is a member of the American Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society and the General Dentist Academy.

Special Teams Solutions Will Host a National Camp Series (NCS) Divisional Kicking Camp in Matawan, NJ, on August 4, 2013

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Special Teams Solutions will host a National Camp Series (NCS) Divisional Kicking Camp, for high school kickers, punters and snappers, in Matawan, NJ, on August 4, 2013 according to Camp Directors and kicking coaches Lee McDonald and Charlie Titus.

Go here for more information about the Special Teams Solutions' NCS Divisional Kicking Camp in Matawan, NJ.

McDonald and Titus have a great deal of experience as kicking specialists.

McDonald signed a full scholarship to Rutgers University from where he earned a B.A. and M.Ed.

The former Scarlet Knight is known for his 1999 game winning overtime field goal that upset the Syracuse Orangemen 24-21. McDonald also garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice during his career and was twice named to the Big East Conference Academic Team.

McDonald then kicked for the Buffalo Destroyers of the Arena Football League and the Norfolk Nighthawks where he set several Arena 2 football kicking records including most field goals in one game (6) that earned him AF2 Player of the Week honors.

Titus walked-on at Rutgers University and earned a full scholarship after becoming the starting punter. He graduated from Rutgers with a B.A. in 2000 and finished his career with a 41.9 yard average on 155 career punts.

In 1998, Titus was honored by the Big East Conference as the Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 51.4 yards on three punts during a Scarlet Knight victory over the Naval Academy.

In addition to training with All-Pro NFL punters Sean Landetta and Josh Miller, Titus had several private try-outs for NFL teams including the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Stealers.

Kicking coach Michael Husted, who created the National Camp Series (NCS) after kicking in the NFL for nine years, says having kicking coaches like McDonald and Titus attests to the quality of coaches at NCS events.

NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country, says Husted. NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country.

Husted says he is very happy to have a kicking coaches like McDonald and Titus as part of the NCS team.

Both McDonald and Titus are excellent kicking coaches, says Husted. Both helped me with the NCS Super Camp in Florida earlier this year. Ive enjoyed working with them on all their NCS events in 2012.

"2012 shaped up to be the best year yet for the National Camp Series, says Husted. having introduced our Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, we are now positioned extremely well in 2013 to leverage analytics to showcase our athletes, and to provide objective high school kicking specialists statistics' to college and university coaches.

Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes.

By sorting through over six years of historical event data, the KIX system determines a kickers rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.

"The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry, says Husted. If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialists skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."

Smart Horizons Career Online Education and ed2go Participate in the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative America Meeting

Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

Dr. Howard Liebman, Chief Executive Officer of Smart Horizons Career Online Education, and Ron Stefanski, Chief Business Development Officer of ed2go, part of Cengage Learning, recently participated at the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative America (CGI America) meeting.

CGI America is an annual event focused on finding solutions that promote economic recovery in the United States. Former President Clinton hosted the third annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois, in June 2013, which brought together leaders from the business, foundation, NGO, and government sectors.

SHCOE and ed2go joined the CGI initiative in an effort to further their work to remove economic barriers through education and the use of technology.

The objectives of CGI America directly align with our mission to expand access to affordable high school education, specifically career-focused education, to those who are economically disadvantaged, stated Mr. Stefanski. We achieve this through our AdvancED/SACS accredited online high school diploma program, as well as our almost 500 online workforce training and development programs.

In early 2012, ed2go teamed up with SHCOE, the worlds first AdvancED/SACS accredited online school district, to create a solution to what Stefanski refers to as the high school dropout crisis.

The high school dropout rate has increased dramatically, Stefanski explained. This means there are millions of people in the United States who lack the basic educational background, as well as the required skills, for many jobs. This is a crisis for not only these individuals, but for a nation in need of economic recovery.

Launched in May 2012, Career Online High School serves people who have limited career options due to lacking a high school diploma. The AdvancED/SACS accredited high school program enables students to earn both a high school diploma and a career certificate in high-demand employment areas.

Since the launch of Career Online High School just a year ago, it has served more than 2,500 students.

The schools existing career certifications include areas such as Childcare (CDA), Transportation Services (CDL), and General Professional Skills. As part of their work with CGI America, ed2go and SHCOE recently launched two new certificate tracks aligned to CGIs core objectives.

First, we launched a retail/customer service skills certificate track to support CGIs commitment to strengthen the retail workforce, said Stefanski. Then we recently rolled out a food service and hospitality skills certificate track to support CGIs commitment to collaboration across the service sector.

Stefanski said it was an honor to be included in the invitation-only event, stating that, CGI is providing an unprecedented opportunity to move our work forward.

AIMS 360 Apparel ERP Software Mentors Urban Youth Entrepreneurs

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013

AIMS 360, the fashion industry's leading apparel ERP software spoke to urban children from the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). Seventeen student entrepreneurs (ranging from grade school to high school) and their advisors visited the AIMS headquarter office in downtown Los Angeles to learn more about AIMS, it's products, how the company got started, and what they have done to accomplish where they are today.

AIMS360' Director of Training, Scott Allen, and Chris Walia, Director of Business Development & Marketing spoke about the importance of a business plan and offered some tips for being a successful entrepreneur. Students learned about various features of AIMS360, the development of the software in DOS, and how it has evolved to the latest version, AIMS360, on the .NET platform.

Scott Allen spoke candidly about his personal entrepreneurial adventure with his apparel line, NOTICE, goals they set to become successful, the importance of business plan, and having the drive to succeed. Students were able to better understand the details that are involved and the dedication it takes to build an apparel company from the ground up.

Following the discussion students were tasked to go purchase something for $ 25 that was related to the business they plan to start. "The students are going to learn how to do markups. Purchase a product at a wholesale price, mark it up, and then sell that product at a profit." said, Chris Walia. Rhonda Santifer, the children's mentor, gave the students $ 25 out of her pocket and the students will have to give her the first $ 25 back to her first and then can keep the profits.

A week after the meeting, Chris Walia from AIMS was asked to volunteer as a mentor in assisting students to develop their business plans. The children were tasked to develop a strategy for their business including a mission statement, product description, costing and marketing. The businesses varied from apparel and accessories to lotions and hot dogs. "These young professionals are determined and have a great understanding of what it takes to be the success of our next generation of entrepreneurs." says Chris.

Chris Walia worked with a very talented student who wants to pursue his business in apparel. He focused his business plan on clothing manufacturing, more specifically focusing on an apparel skate board brand that gives back to the local community. Enlightened by other fashion skate wear companies, his unique shirt and hat designs boast products that are affordable and relay positive messaging, encouraging children to not give up.

Once completing the business plan, the students presented their plans to their advisors. The advisors then gave back constructive feedback to fill in gaps to build a successful business.

Garden Media Group is Growing with the Addition of Three New Team Members

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 31, 2013

With three new hires in recent months, the Garden Media Group is expanding client services and opening new doors within the garden sector. Each new hire brings an original voice and creative energy to the team, generating more results for clients.

Joining the team in March, Kate Manchester brings 20 years of entrepreneurial experience to her new role as account executive. As the founding publisher of edible Santa Fe, a quarterly print publication celebrating the abundance of local foods, Manchester offers firsthand knowledge of the relationship between food and gardening.

Manchester began her career working for Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, and was a celebrity chef for many years. She authored two books, The Perfect Wedding Cake and Sweet Celebrations, launched a cooking school, created the Edible Radio podcast series and co-founded Delicious New Mexico.

Kates vast experience as an author, chef and publisher brings an unparalleled skill set to our team that is taking our clients and our business to new heights, says Susan McCoy, president of the public relations and marketing firm. Her passion for gardening, writing and cooking helps us add more food, health, lifestyle and home clients to the roster.

Megan Hostetter joined Garden Media as a full-time assistant account executive in May. A recent graduate of Millersville University, she holds a B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in Business Management. Hostetter recently completed a highly selective internship at Spike T.V. in New York City, where she quickly discovered that public relations is the perfect synthesis of the science of business and the art of communication.

McCoy notes, Megan innately understands our clients needs and is able to provide innovative, digital platforms and initiatives to build brands. She regularly surprises and delights our clients.

Emma Fitzpatrick, the most recent addition to the team, is no stranger to Garden Media. She completed a GMG internship in the fall and made such an impression, she was asked to join the team as an assistant account executive after she graduated from The Honors College of West Chester University. Fitzpatrick received her degree in English and minored in Communication Studies.

Fitzpatrick has quickly proven to be an integral asset to the GMG team. Emma has a fabulous work ethic and consistently exceeds expectations, states McCoy, She is a talented and skillful writer, which is evident in our weekly marketing and PR blog posts on grow.gardenmediagroup.com.

Lifelong Hobby Turns into New Venture with Retirement

(PRWEB) July 31, 2013

A Renaissance man is someone who has broad intellectual interests and is accomplished in areas of both the arts and the sciences. Friendship Village is the home of its very own talented yet humble Renaissance man. Pete Young, who began college studying nuclear physics and subsequently pursued a career in business, is an award-winning photographer who now has the time to enjoy his beloved hobby. Photography has been my avocation which now in retirement, is my vocation, he said.

Pete first became interested in photography as a young teen when he received a gift of a Brownie Hawkeye camera. Aside from one high school photography class, Pete is self-taught. I learn, and then challenge myself, he said. While Pete has always had a camera in hand, he realized early on that photography as a full time profession would not support his family, and so he pursued it only during his free time. Pete has won awards from the Chicago Botanic Gardens Animal Architects Contest, Northbrook Librarys Juried Exposition Caught in the Act and DuPage Art Leagues Monthly Theme Contests, and has been praised by National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore.

Pete said that through the years hes shot extremely eclectic subject matter including open-heart surgery at Childrens Memorial Hospital, the inner structure of the human ear, and movie star Vincent Price for the cover of a catalogue. In general, he prefers photographing nature and people and cant really narrow his favorite pictures to just one or two.

Pete believes that his scientific background gives him a bit of an edge with his work. I have a proclivity to understand optics and exposure and lighting and other technical aspects that most people arent interested in, he said.

Even more than the technical aspect of photography, Pete likes the personal facet of his craft. Always eager to snap pictures of willing subjects, Pete uses photography as a vehicle to meet people. Furthermore, he said that he loves helping people in their quest to take better pictures. It feeds my soul.

Given his interest in science, its no surprise that Pete is fascinated with the modern technology relating to photography. He has enthusiastically embraced digital cameras and has attained the master level of using Photoshop.

Petes wife Sue believes that his work has improved as hes matured. I think its so much better now. Hes developed more. I think its because the technical part is so ingrained in him now that he can focus on the artistic side. People come up to him all of the time and say that he really has captured his subjects personality. He has some sort of sixth sense, she said.

Last month, Steve Yenchek, Friendship Senior Options President and CEO, suggested that Pete conduct beginning photography courses for the associates at Friendship Village. The associates work really hard and plan so many wonderful activities. I agreed it would be really good to have the best possible pictures of these events. Im happy to take pictures but I cant be at all 450 activities each month. Im here to retire. I cant work like that, Pete said. It made sense for him to pass along some of his photography tips to associates so that they can record the events that hes not attending. His favorite piece of advice to amateur photographers is to zoom in with your feet. Rather than using the automatic zoom feature on cameras, Pete likes for people to get up close.

Pete said that he is blessed with an eclectic and interesting life. I never knew that life would take me in this direction. Its unfolding as life goes along. I take every day and enjoy it as it comes. I follow the opportunities; I follow my curiosity and I follow challenge, he said.

Friendship Village is a good environment in which to be challenged and engaged, Pete said. The opportunity for activities for all personalities is phenomenal. Not everyone is a photographer; not everyone is a Bridge player. Theres such a multiplicity of personalities, each group is a community unto itself, he said.

Friendship Village is a leading Chicago continuing care retirement community offering a complete continuum of care including independent living garden homes and apartment homes, as well as assisted living, memory support, skilled care, and short- and long-term rehabilitation services. For more than 35 years, Friendship Village has been providing Chicago area seniors with exceptional retirement living options.
